How it works
A local services finder that tells you how it works.
Find It In Canada answers one question well: who can do this job, here, and how do I reach them? These are the rules we hold ourselves to.
How results are ranked
When you search, we work out the service, the place and any conditions (“emergency”, “open now”, “wheelchair accessible”) from what you type, and show you how we read it so you can change it.
Results are then ordered by, in this order of weight: how closely the business matches the service; how close it is to the place you searched (or to you, if you chose “near me”); any words that match its name or specialities; and a small nudge for listings that give you more to go on — a phone number, opening hours, a website, an owner who has claimed and maintains it.
Payment never changes that order. Businesses on the Pro plan can appear in a separate “Featured · paid placement” block above the results, only when they genuinely match your search, at most two at a time, rotated so no one owns the spot.
Where the information comes from
Listings start from businesses' own public listings and from businesses that add themselves. We keep the facts you need to get in touch — name, services, address or area, phone, website, booking link and opening hours — and nothing more. We deliberately do not copy ratings, reviews or photos from other sites; profiles link to reviews where they were written.
Many listings also come from OpenStreetMap, the map anyone can edit, refreshed every week (last on 8 October 2026). We only list businesses there that give a phone number or website. Data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database Licence.
When a business claims its listing, its owner's corrections replace the imported details, and the profile says so and when.
What “Claimed by owner” means
It means someone proved they run the business — normally by receiving a code at an email address on the business's own website domain, otherwise by a manual check. We never show it for anything less. It is not an endorsement of the work.
Reviews
We don't host reviews yet, and we will never write, buy or filter them. When we add them, they will come only from people we can link to a real enquiry.
Your privacy
You don't need an account to search, save or contact anyone. Your shortlist is stored on your own device. “Near me” uses your location rounded to about a kilometre, for that one search, and we don't store it.
To show businesses how their listing performs, we count views, calls and website clicks per listing — with no cookies and no identifiers attached. See the privacy notice.
Something wrong?
Owners can claim and correct a listing free. Anyone can email findit@conjora.ie to report a closed business or a mistake, or to ask for a listing to be removed.
